When Fatigue Is More Than a Busy Calendar

When Fatigue Is More Than a Busy Calendar

February 20, 2026|760 Views

Quick Summary

Tired after a crunch week is expected. Tired for months, with breathlessness, pallor, or low mood, deserves a workup, not another coffee.

Time course is a clue

Fatigue that started with a new medicine, after an infection, or with weight change is a story your clinician needs. Fatigue that is only on weekdays and vanishes on holiday may still be burnout — also worth naming.

  • How long it has lasted
  • Sleep quality and snoring
  • Mood and interest in usual things
  • Bleeding, diet, and medicines

Do not self-diagnose from a forum

Lists of “adrenal fatigue” rarely help. Basic labs and a history do.

What you can try while you wait for an appointment

Protect sleep, eat regular meals with protein, walk gently, and cut late alcohol. If nothing budges in a few weeks, keep the appointment anyway. Trying lifestyle changes is not a reason to skip care.

Chest pain, fainting, or suicidal thoughts are urgent. Do not wait for a convenient slot.
