Start from your baseline
If you average 4,000, 5,000 is a win. Jumping to 10,000 in a week is a blister factory. Add a short walk, not a personality.
Allow floor days
Illness, travel, and grief days need a tiny floor, not a fail stamp.
- Set a range, not a cliff
- Turn off some celebrations if they feel silly
- Walk with a person when you can
Other movements count even if the watch is confused
Cycling, swimming, and lifting may under-count steps. Do not punish a good session because a pedometer was bored. Use weekly active minutes if that matches your life better.
