Portions drifted as plates and packets grew. Awareness is not punishment; it is noticing that the roti stack became the meal.
Hands are allowed
A palm of protein, a fist of cooked grain, two fists of vegetables, and a thumb of fats is a rough starting sketch, not a law. Children’s hands are not adult hands. Adjust to hunger, training, and medical needs.
- Serve from the kitchen, not the TV
- Keep snack packets in a cupboard, not on the desk
- Use a bowl for nuts so “a handful” has an edge
Restaurants need a different tactic
Make the default serving closer to what you meant to eat.
Split dishes, box half early, or order extra vegetables. You are not morally required to finish what a kitchen plated for two. Enjoyment still counts as nutrition psychology.
