A small kit that actually exists
Plasters, sterile gauze, tape, antiseptic wipes, tweezers, and any personal medicines you are told to keep available. Check expiry dates when the clocks change. Keep it out of toddlers’ reach.
Training beats articles when seconds matter. Still, a few defaults help.
Simple rules of thumb
- Direct pressure on bleeding
- Do not pull impaled objects
- If it might be a stroke, remember face, arm, speech, time
Burns, choking, chest pain
Cool burns under running water; do not apply random pastes. For choking, follow current local first-aid guidance. Crushing chest pain is not a wait-and-see. Learn the numbers for your area before you need them.
This is not a first-aid course. Consider certified training for CPR. Call emergency services when in doubt.
